The Secretariat of Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM) in collaboration with African Synodality Initiative (ASI) is pleased to announce the gathering of a cross-section of experts from across the African continent for the Second Working Session of Continental Synod on Synodality from 23 January to 25 January, 2023 at AFRICAMA House in Nairobi, Kenya.
This gathering follows the first session which took place in Accra, Ghana, from 6 to 9 December 2022, where the continental team reflected on the Document for Continental Synodality (DCS) as prepared by the Vatican’s General Secretariat of the Synod.
At the First Session, the continental team appreciated the DCS in the context of the issues that the Church raised in the regional reports and came up with a draft African Continental Synodality Document.
This Second Session is to continue listening to one another and to the Holy Spirit, a journey that will see the team:
- Re-work on the African Synodal Continental Document with the new insights that have come from the local churches.
- Discuss a possible program for the African Continental Synod gathering, which is scheduled for the first week of March 2023 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
